PlannerTopics, events, assignments

One agenda for what is planned, what is being written and what is out.

Topics, articles and events on the same calendar. The writer receives a prepared topic: angle, sources, headlines, alerts.

Four days filling up — topics from Reader or WhatsApp, articles, events — while Monday’s topic is prepared, written, commented on, then published.

How Planner works.

Planner

What is being prepared, written and published: one agenda.

Topics, articles and events in the same agenda, sorted by day and by time — as a list, a week or a month. Each entry has its ticket: angle, sources, writer, date, priority, event covered. The ticket changes colour as it is written, then as it goes out — the newsroom sees at a glance what is planned, in progress and published.

What is being prepared, written and published: one agenda.

Consistency

Never the same topic twice, never the article that runs against the grain.

Planner crosses a topic’s terms with the events seven days around, the other topics three days around and the recent articles. Two writers on the same piece, the critical article on the person interviewed two days later: you are warned before writing — in the ticket, in the editor’s checklist, in the publication review.

Never the same topic twice, never the article that runs against the grain.

Prepared topic

The writer opens a topic that is already ready.

From the ticket, “Ask Poquelin” analyses the sources and proposes scored headlines and angles. Everything done there — angle, sources read, fact sheet, chosen headline — is taken over by the Editor without being redone or paid again: the writer starts by reviewing, not by searching.

The writer opens a topic that is already ready.

The chain, without friction

A share becomes a topic.

A URL, an image, a social post, WhatsApp messages: share to Poquelin and the ticket builds itself — the text becomes the angle, the rest becomes sources — with its link coming back, ready to paste to a colleague. From the phone (Android through the installable app, iOS through a shortcut), from the browser (bookmarklet), from an Editor draft (“Plan it”).

A share becomes a topic.
